Thiruvananthapuram, Dec. 11: Genrobotics, a leader in advanced robotic solutions for dangerous tasks, signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) here with the Government Polytechnic College, Palakkad to set up a campus industrial park that would foster skill development, promote local entrepreneurship, and create a pipeline of industry-ready professionals.
The MoU, signed on last evening during the Industry Academia Government (IAG) conclave UDYAMA 1.0 organized by the Directorate of Technical Education, was formally handed over to Higher Education and Social Justice Minister Dr. R Bindhu.
The plant will focus on the production of Genrobotics’ most advanced technologies, including the Bandicoot robots which are transforming urban sanitation by replacing manual scavenging with automated solutions, ensuring safety and dignity for sanitation workers.
This new production facility will serve as a hub for innovation, offering students, researchers, and entrepreneurs a platform for collaboration and growth, exemplifying the power of public-private partnerships to drive meaningful social change.
By embedding this facility within an academic institution, this partnership marks a pivotal moment in bridging the gap between academia and industry, aligning with the goals of UDYAMA 1.0.
Adv. V.K. Prasanth, MLA; Mrs. Ishita Roy, Principal Secretary, Higher Education Department; Mr. M. Chandradathan, Scientific Advisor to the Chief Minister Minister; Mr. Sudhir K, Director of Collegiate Education; Mr. Dinesh P Thampi, Vice President and Delivery Centre Head of TCS Kerala; Dr. Shalij PR, Director of Technical Education and Coordinator of UDYAMA 1.0; and Dr. Ashalatha R, Co-coordinator of UDYAMA 1.0, were present at the function.
Earlier this year, Genrobotics launched its first Campus Industrial Park in Kerala at Ilahia College of Engineering and Technology, Muvattupuzha.
Genrobotics, which has developed Bandicoot —the world's first robotic scavenger—has been at the forefront of tackling urban sanitation issues. Their innovative solutions are improving the lives of thousands by eliminating dangerous manual scavenging and replacing it with safe, efficient robotics.
The company has earned several prestigious awards, including the BIRAC Innovation with High Social Impact Award. As part of a larger focus on sectors like healthcare, renewable energy, and education, Genrobotics has emerged as a key player in the technological transformation of India.
