Culture Minister to launch work on state-owned theatre complex at Vaikom on July 3

Kottayam, July 02: Minister for Cultural Affairs Shri Saji Cheriyan will inaugurate the construction of the two-screen theatre complex at Vaikom in Kottayam district on July 3 (Sunday), under the State Government’s project to build state-of-the-art movie houses in tier-two towns and rural areas.

The theatre complex, being built by the Kerala State Film Development Corporation (KSFDC) at a cost of Rs 15.56 crore, is coming up on the 80-cent plot allotted by the Vikom Municipality in the town.

Vaikom MLA Smt C K Asha will preside over the function scheduled to be held at 11.30 am. Shri Thomas Chazhikadan MP will deliver the key-note address.  KSFDC Chairman Shri Shaji N Karun, MD Smt N Maya IFS, elected representatives and film and cultural personalities will also attend the function.

At the function, Vaikom Municipal Chairperson Smt Renuka Ratheesh will hand over to KSFDC the documents pertaining to the site.

The project is aimed at providing a high-end cinematic experience at affordable cost to viewers outside the major cities.

The theatre will have all the cutting-edge features like 4k-3D laser digital projection, Dolby Atmos sound system, JBL speaker, silver screen, invertor type air conditioning,  CC TV coverage and LED display. The two screens of the complex together will have 380 sofa pushback seats.
