National Milk Day: Milma’s Thiruvananthapuram Dairy open for public

Thiruvananthapuram, Nov. 19: Milma will allow public to visit its Thiruvananthapuram dairy at Ambalathara on November 25 and 26, as part of the National Milk Day celebrations. The visitors will be able to see how the plant processes milk and makes other dairy products from 10 am to 5 pm.
The country celebrates November 26 as the National Milk Day, coinciding with the birth anniversary of the late Dr Verghese Kurien, the father of India’s White Revolution.
Public can visit Milma’s Thiruvananthapuram Milma Dairy to understand the complete processing procedure of milk by Milma. Visitors will have the opportunity to understand how milk is collected from various dairy cooperative units, pasteurised and sterilized at the dairy and how the consumable milk is packeted and distributed into the market using advanced technology and machineries. The manufacturing process of other Milma products including ghee, ice cream, butter and butter milk will also be witnessed by visitors.
Visitors can also buy Milma products like ghee, butter and paneer, Milma peda, ice-creams, gulab jamun, palada and several types of chocolates, sip-up, lolly, mango juice, rusk, flavoured milk and cupcake at discount rates on these days.
As part of National Milk Day celebrations, a quiz competition will be held for high school and higher secondary students on November 21st and a painting competition on November 22nd. The competitions will be held at Milma Dairy at Ambalathara from 9.30 am. Every school in the district can send one team for the competitions.
