Smt J. Chinchurani to disburse bonus to dairy farmers at Vadavathoor

Kottayam, Oct. 20: Minister for Dairy Development and Animal Husbandry Smt J. Chinchurani will inaugurate an upgraded dairy of Milma’s Ernakulam Regional Cooperative Milk Producers’ Union (ERCMPU) at Kottayam on Tuesday, raising its daily processing capacity to one lakh litres of milk from 75,000 litres.

Smt Chinchurani will also disburse the latest bonus on behalf of ERCMPU, which has its cooperatives in the districts of Ernakulam, Thrissur and Idukki besides Kottayam, at the October 22 ceremony to be held in suburban Vadavathoor.

Kottayam MLA Shri Thiruvanchoor Radhakrishnan will preside over the function, where Shri K. Francis George, MP, will be the chief guest.

Others at the event will include representatives of local administrative bodies, members of the ERCMPU administrative body, officials of Milma and Dairy Development Department and presidents of the cooperatives besides their members, said ERCMPU Chairman Shri M.T. Jayan.

ERCMPU upgraded its Kottayam dairy through funds from Dairy Development Board (Rs 65 lakh on becoming the promising milk union in south India), Kerala government (Rs 47 lakh) and the Union’s own Rs 52 lakh fund, besides a Rs 260-lakh loan of zero interest.

The bonus to be disbursed at Tuesday’s function will total Rs 3,28,61,300, based on 31 paise per litre of milk each member supplied to the Union during the 2023-24 financial year.
