Kochi, Sep17: Milma’s Ernakulam Regional Cooperative Milk Producers’ Union (ERCMPU) clocked a major jump in Onam sales this year, vending 56 lakh litres of milk and 3.53 kg of curd during the ten days starting from the festive Atham.

Sales till Thiruvonam evening (September 15) marked record figures in ice-cream, peda, paneer and various types of payasam, according to Shri M.T. Jayan, Chairman of ERCMPU, which comprises cooperatives in the districts of Thrissur, Ernakulam, Kottayam and Idukki.

As for ghee, ERCMPU sold 200 tonnes during the Onam month, showing a rise of 5 per cent vis-à-vis the corresponding period in 2023. On the busy Onam-eve Uthradam day, 10.56 lakh milk and 88,266 kg of curd sold, registering an increase of 3.06 per cent and 7.40 per cent respectively. Besides, ERCMPU distributed 1.62 lakh bottles of ghee and as many packets of payasam-mix during the Onam run-up.

Shri Jayan, while expressing pleasure over the performance, said the record sales reinforce customer trust. “This kind of a sales would not have been possible but for the cooperation of our agents and catering groups, besides the procurement and processing staff,” he added.
