Pioneering tech-tainment firm Bhooshan’s Junior aims African market
Kochi / September 2, 2024
Kochi, Sep 2: Tech-tainment firm Bhooshan’s Junior is making deep inroads into Africa by entering into an animation agreement with Wiflex OTT platform which enjoys mass base in Ghana, Nigeria, Zambia and Kenya.
Incubating at Infopark in Kakkanad, Bhooshan’s Junior realised last year the impossibility to flourish with just animation, according to its top functionaries. It prompted co-founders Sarath Bhooshan and Joseph Panikulam to go beyond cartoons, and work on AVGC (audio visual gaming comics), 3D animation, gaming, music and robotic toys.
In August 2023, the company raised a pre-seed fund of Rs 2 crore in a combination of debt and equity, marking a milestone. “Currently, the seed round is on. We are getting encouraging response,” Sarath said.
The company’s cartoon and animation productions are available on Viacom 18, Shemaroo, Hungama, Patreon, YouTube, Rumble and various platforms of Jio. Bhooshan Junior is a commercial partner of Viacom 18, Shemaroo, Hungama besides Reliance Jio.
The new inroads into Africa will be promising, as the continent tops in viewers of Indian digital content abroad. Bhooshan Junior is planning to further broaden its reach for cartoons among expatriate Indians, Sarath revealed, adding that his company enjoys presence in 16 countries across the Gulf and North Africa.
Bhooshan Junior’s musical entertainment series, titled ‘Jhoom Tara Ra Ra’, features four ducks and their train Joe who have endeared the viewers. Another production, ‘Namaste Meawoo’, is India’s first globally-sold product of its kind.
Sarath began conceiving a career in animation in 2013, having worked in software and financial sectors till then. COVID-19 upset his 2020 plan to launch Bhooshan Junior. It eventually took off in 2021. Sarath’s wife Megha Suresh is also at the helms.
