KSFDC’s first film under SC/ST Directors’ Project in cinemas on Aug. 30
Arun J Mohan-directed ‘Churul’ unfolds a gripping story

Thiruvananthapuram, Aug. 28: ‘Churul’, produced by Kerala State Film Development Corporation (KSFDC) as part of empowering filmmakers from the SC/ST (Scheduled Castes and Scheduled Tribes) communities, is all set to hit the cinemas on August 30.
Directed by Arun J Mohan, ‘Churul’ hits the big screens across Kerala after four films made by KSFDC under the state government’s pioneering ‘Films Directed by Women' project
The film unfolds the gripping story of an investigation that follows the murder of a retired police officer, laying bare casteism still latent in the society as the scenes roll on.
The film features Pramod Veliyanad, Rahul Rajagopal, Da Vinci, Akhila Nath, Gopan Mangad, Rajesh Sharma and Kalabhavan Jinto in prominent roles.
It has cinematography by Praveen Chakrapani while editing is done by David Manuel. The flick has music composed by Madhu Paul.
Nithish Chandra Acharya is in charge of art direction and Ratheesh Vijayan is the makeup man of the movie. Costumes are by Shibu Parameswaran and sound design is by Radhakrishnan S, Satheesh Babu and Shine B John.
Anoop Thilak is handling sound mixing and VFX is done by mudhouse. Kishore Babu is in charge of publicity design while B Yugendran is the colourist.
A path-breaking initiative to support aspiring filmmakers from the SC/ST communities, ‘Films by Directors from SC/ST’ project was launched in 2020-21.
The 1975-founded KSFDC is the country’s first public-sector corporation for film development.
