Calicut / August 17, 2024

Kozhikode, Aug 17: Undeterred by incessant rains, budding IT professionals joined a long queue of aspiring employees totalling 15,000 at the ‘Reboot 24’, living up to the organisers’ expectation of being Kerala’s biggest job fair for the sector and bringing Kozhikode on the global map.

Youngsters registered themselves online as well as using special arrangements at the spot, weathering continuous downpours amid a projection of generating 1,500 employment opportunities through 75 companies.

The 13-hour event at Calicut Trade Centre, which began today at 9 a.m., was jointly organized by Government Cyberpark in association with Calicut Forum for Information Technology (CAFIT), providing talents a platform to launch their career or take their skills to the next level.

While 12,000-plus delegates had already registered at the day-long event, the morning started with the youth in large numbers waiting for screening at the section with a capacity of 1,000 people. Overall, 75 firms kept announcing their job offers along with the matching profile of the candidates. This was to follow with one-on-one interviews from the panels.

Today’s fair will, within 45 days, complete the recruitments totaling 1,500 at various levels, based on the performance and results of the candidates.

Cyberpark General Manager Vivek Nair inaugurated the fair and said that Reboot 24 did evoke warm response and the organisers had arranged facilities in anticipation of the monsoon time. “The aspirants have turned up weathering the heavy rains. It shows the value of this event,” he pointed out.

CAFIT Secretary Abdul Gafoor K.V. highlighted that the registrants, who include both beginners and experienced professionals, come from not just all the 14 districts of Kerala but from cities outside the state such as Coimbatore, Chennai and Bengaluru. “This shows the trend in IT sector. It also underscores the need for a second phase for the Cyberpark here,” he added.

Companies functioning from UL Cyberpark and KINFRA IT Park are participating in the event, which is being held in association with Future Lab, Kerala Knowledge Economy Mission, E-store and Ticket for Events.

Reboot 24, which also saw the participation of industry experts, facilitated networking, knowledge-sharing and building connections,
