Wayanad tragedy: KFL sends consignment for affected farmers

Calicut / July 31, 2024

Kozhikode, July 31: Kerala Feeds Limited (KFL) is delivering free fodder to dairy farmers who are suffering from devastating landslides amid continuing heavy rains in Wayanad's Chooralmala and nearby areas, the PSU’s top officials said today.

According to KFL Chairman Shri K Sreekumar and MD Dr B Sreekumar, the relief package will be provided from the company’s Thiruvangoor plant near Chemancheri in Kozhikode district as part of the Snehasparsham project.

Already, lorries have left for Wayanad with fodder, Dr Sreekumar said.

KFL implemented several similar projects during the 2018 monsoon when floods inundated several parts of Kerala. The PSU has taken the initiative to provide low-interest bank loans to farmers and provide cows free of cost.

KFL organised a flood relief programme through social media, earning encouraging participation. The company will extend “full cooperation” on new projects announced as per the instructions of the State Dairy Development and Animal Husbandry Department.

The 1995-founded KFL, headquartered in Kallettumkara near Irinjalakuda in Thrissur district, manufactures products for various breeds of cows with the aim of keeping them in good health as well as better productivity and quality of milk.
