KSUM’s IEDC 2.0 district rounds get under way

Pathanamthitta, July 29: District level interactive sessions to take forward the Innovation and Entrepreneurship Development Center (IEDC 2.0) project launched by Kerala Startup Mission (KSUM) got under way today, with speakers calling for leveraging innovation and entrepreneurship to bring about a sustainable and inclusive social transformation.

Speaking at the meeting held at St Thomas College, Ranni, speakers said it was important to identify social issues which could be addressed effectively by leveraging the services of startups and innovators.

Referring to the development potential of Pathanamthitta district, they said it was vital to identify focal areas where calibrated grass root level interventions as envisaged by IEDC 2.0 could be leveraged for social and economic advancement.

IEDC 2.0 is envisaged as a major initiative towards fully utilising the state’s entrepreneurial potential, said KSUM officials who participated in the meeting.

KSUM has planned interactive sessions in all districts to present the core themes of IEDC 2.0 project before the entire spectrum of stakeholders including entrepreneurs, innovators, academics and students.

The endeavour is aimed at forging stakeholder collaborations for sustainable and inclusive development of the society, they said.

It also seeks to encourage students to become agencies of social change, while also economically empowering them. Supporting the teaching and research community and promoting industrial cooperation and creation of mini-industrial parks are also set out as goals.
Dr. Sneha Elcy Jacob, Principal, St Thomas College, delivered the presidential address, followed by the Inaugural address by Prof. Santhosh K. Thomas, Manager, St. Thomas College.  Shri Ashok Kurian Panjikkaran, Senior Manager, KSUM, delivered the key-note address.
Others who spoke include Shri Kevin Anjo, Shri Bergin Russel, Shri Adarsh V (KSUM), IEDC Nodal Office Ms Swetha C, and Shri Jikku James.
