Kochi / July 19, 2024

Kochi, July 19: Information Technology firms in Kerala must strive to attain global standards by leveraging the state’s dynamic IT ecosystem with Infopark alone witnessing an annual growth of 25 per cent and hefty rise in the income from the sector, its CEO Susanth Kurunthil said today.

It also becomes imperative to hone professional skills which are as important as the academic knowledge at a time when Kerala is making impressive strides in information technology, he stressed after inaugurating a job fair organised by IEEE and GTech MuLearn.

Named Launchpad, the event at Jain Deemed-to-be University near Infopark Phase 1 was attended by 400 representatives of companies that were shortlisted from 4,000 applications.

“Infopark is paving stepping stones for our IT companies to rise to international standards. We need to have skills that tune in to the state’s IT requirements and ecosystem. For that we need to go by the vision of Kerala Next,” he noted at the event that was organised in association with partners, besides GTech MuLearn and IEEE, such as Kerala Knowledge Economy Mission and Kerala Development and Innovation Strategic Council (K-DISC).

The job fair had its screening of applicants made over the past three months. It began with a test that involved job experience in IT. Those who passed this phase were called for interview. The fair featured 35 companies, 15 of them from Kochi.

‘Launchpad’ was addressed by IEEE Kerala Section past chair Mini U; IEEE industry relation chair Rony Alex Thomas; GTech vice-chairman A Balakrishnan; Government of Kerala High Power IT Committee member Dinesh Thampi; JAIN (Deemed-to-be University) pro vice-chancellor Dr J Letha; JAIN University director Dr Tom Joseph; and IEEE student activities chair Shon Jose.
