Women should make new technology part of their lives
Kochi / July 12, 2024
Kochi, July 12: Speakers at the International GenAl Conclave, which concluded at the LuLu International Convention Centre here on Friday, advised women to consider adopting new technologies to make their lives safer and more comfortable.
The women experts in the session on 'Importance of GenAI in Pushing New Frontiers in Technology' feel mastering new technology is a meaningful way to break free from isolation.
Federal Bank Executive Director Shalini Warrier, Prof (Dr) Elizabeth Shirley Digital University Kerala and IBM Managing Partner and Client Innovation Center Leader Usha Srikanth participated in the discussions.
“In the future, there should be equality in the field so that the issue of women's role in technology is not even discussed. Their reluctance to learn anything new is holding them back in technology,” said Smt Warrier.
She said women had been asked to take a greater interest in the bank's digital section, as it is a sector where women are more represented.
“The mantra of women in this field should be to learn, unlearn and relearn,” said the senior banker.
“Fintech is a prime example of technology adoption. Artificial intelligence is also critical in customer service.”
Dr Elizabeth Shirley said GenAI is rapidly influencing the country's education system. Women need better technical facilities, financial support, and expert advice to rise in this field.
“All systems like higher education institutions, digital universities and start-ups are giving more importance to women,” said the DUK professor.
Usha Srikanth said that although women are well represented in the software delivery sector, there are fewer women in fields like data science and software architecture.
She said women should take advantage of the opportunity to learn new technologies without limiting themselves to familiar fields.
Around 2000 delegates from around the world participated in the two-day conclave organised by Kerala State Industrial Development Corporation in association with IBM.
