Kerala IT’s soccer tourney kicks off at Technopark
Raviz Prathidhwani Sevens Football to feature over 2000 players

Thiruvananthapuram, July 06: The biggest football tournament in state’s IT sector, organized by Prathidhwani, the welfare and recreation forum of IT employees at Technopark, in association with Yoode Promotions and Raviz Hotels, kicked off at Technopark here today.
Named Raviz Prathidhwani Sevens Football tournament, the event in sevens format will go on till August, with teams drawn from IT companies in the state battling it out for the title.
Former Indian footballer Shri Vinu Jose inaugurated the seventh edition of the tournament. Shri Kadakampally Surendran, MLA, inaugurated an exhibition match between Kerala Union of Working Journalists (KUWJ) Media XI and Prathidhwani team representing various IT companies at Technopark on Saturday.
The inaugural of the event also saw exchange of trophy by current winners, bike rally of teams and unveiling of teams’ jersey.
More than 2,000 IT employees from 93 companies will become part of the tourney in 152 matches which will be held on Saturdays and Sundays on Technopark Ground. After the league round, there will be knock-out matches, followed by semi-finals and final that will be held on working days.
The winning team in the final will get Rs 25,000 cash prize, an ever-rolling trophy and one-day accommodation at Raviz Ashtamudi Resort, Kollam. Besides, Raviz Hotels and Yoode Promotions will sponsor other prizes to the winners. There will be special prizes for the Best Player, Best Goalkeeper and the highest goal scorer of the tournament.
In every match, Yoode will give away ‘Player of The Match’ trophy. The organizers have also created an opportunity for spectators to win prizes. A 5s (five-a-side) football tournament for women will also be held as part of the tournament.
Infosys has won the tournament five times while UST Global trounced Infosys once to lift the trophy.
