Kochi, June 26: Milma launched its ready-to-drink Palada payasam today, facilitating global access to the famed Kerala payasam while also guaranteeing a 12-month shelf-life for the delicacy made of milk and sugar.
The product was launched by Kerala Animal Husbandry and Dairy Development Minister Smt J. Chinchurani at the International Dairy Federation Asia Pacific Conference in the city in the presence of NDDB Chairman, Shri. Meenesh C Shah; Chairman, KCMMF, Shri KS Mani; Secretary, Animal Husbandry and Dairying Department, Govt of India, Smt Alka Upadhyaya; Additional Secretary, Animal Husbandry and Dairying Department, India, Smt. Varsha Joshi and KCMMF Managing Director, Shri Asif K Yusuf.
Shri K.S. Mani, Chairman of the Kerala Cooperative Milk Marketing Federation (KCMMF) known by the brand Milma, said the initiative will enable the traditional sweet dish to be sold abroad as well. “Palada, which is liked by children and adults alike, takes time to prepare at home. That way, our product will be of great benefit to many,” he noted.
The Microwave-Assisted Thermal Sterilisation technology used in its manufacturing process prevents Milma Palada payasam against going sour within 12 months of production. Manufactured by Tata Smart Foods at Sri City of Tirupati district in Andhra Pradesh, the product will be of high quality while maintaining its traditional Kerala flavour and taste. The Palada payasam is prepared without adding any preservatives. Each packet weighs 400 grams and is priced at Rs. 150, and serves four people.
The June 26-28 IDF conference here features a Milma pavilion, which was also inaugurated by Minister Smt Chinchurani. The pavilion showcases the products of Milma as well as Kerala’s dairy sector and the natural beauty of the state.
The conclave has participants from 25 countries of the dairy sector.
