GenAI conclave: Hackathon for startups begins
Minister P Rajeeve interacts with stakeholders in the run-up to July 11-12 event

Thiruvananthapuram, June 26: As a precursor to the country’s first-ever International Generative AI (GenAI) Conclave organized by Kerala State Industrial Development Corporation (KSIDC) in association with IBM, a virtual hackathon for startups in the state commenced today.
The hackathon, titled ‘IBM watsonx Challenge,’ is being conducted in collaboration with Kerala Startup Mission (KSUM) on WatsonX platform where startups in the AI domain will pitch their innovative ideas.
The two-day international GenAI conclave will be held in Kochi, on July 11 and 12, in collaboration with IBM.
Speaking on the occasion, Minister for Industries, Law and Coir Shri P Rajeeve announced that the winners of the hackathon will get up to Rs one crore scale-up fund from KSIDC which is subject to terms and conditions.
Shri Rajeeve said AI is one of the 22 major priority sectors identified by the state Industries Department and the GenAI conclave is an initiative that aims to transform Kerala into a major hub of AI.
The Minister exuded confidence that state will become a preferred destination of hi-tech manufacturers in the coming 10-15 years.
The conclave, to be held at Lulu Grand Hyatt Bolgatty International Convention Center, Bolgatty, Kochi, will bring together industry leaders, policymakers and innovators to explore the transformative potential of AI and its impact on society and the economy.
Principal Secretary, (Industries), Shri A. P. M. Mohammed Hanish, said the GenAI conclave offers immense possibilities for global exposure, interaction and collaboration with stakeholders in the domain.
Secretary, Electronics & IT Dr Rathan U Kelkar; Secretary, INPRD, and Director of Industries & Commerce and MD of KSIDC Shri S. Harikishore; KSUM CEO Shri Anoop Ambika and IBM representative Mr Charlie, were present.
The best team to submit a creative solution by using IBM watsonx products will get opportunity to take part in the International GenAI Conclave and present their idea in front of a global audience, apart from on-stage recognition and awards.
