Minister Chinchurani gives Milma ERCMPU aid to farmer who lost four cows

Thrissur, June 7: Milma Ernakulam Regional Cooperative Milk Producers’ Union (ERCMPU) came to the help of a farmer who lost four of his cows owing to electrocution two-and-a-half months ago, as Animal Husbandry and Dairy Development Minister Smt J. Chinchurani handed over Rs 45,000 to Shri Thomas V.R. at his house in Cherpu of this district today.

The amount was given to Thomas, who is a member of the Arattupuzha Milk Cooperative Society, under the EMRCPU’s ‘Help To Farmers’ scheme. Thomas had lost his four cows on March 24.

Present at the function today were Shri C.C. Mukundan, MLA; Milma ERCMPU Chairman Shri M.T. Jayan, Milma Administrative Council members Shri Bhaskaran Adamkavil, Smt Thara Unnikrishnan, Shri T.N. Sathyan and Shri Shaju Veliyan, besides ERCMPU Managing Director Shri Wilson J. Puravakattu, Cherpu Panchayat President Shri Sujisha Kaliyath and Deputy Director Smt Veena M.

The 2023-24 financial year saw EMRCPU’s unions under Idukki, Kottayam, Thrissur and Ernakulam distributing a total of Rs 21 crore under the ‘Help To Farmers’ as well as schemes such as financial grants to cooperative societies and milk price incentives, according to Shri Jayan.
