Suchitwa Mission top official visits family of HKS member

Thiruvananthapuram, Mar 08: It was just another day of daily chores for Haritha Karma Sena (HKS) member Mrs Udaya Kumari until an unexpected guest dropped in at her home as a pleasant surprise on the International Women’s Day on Friday.
As a gesture of appreciation for the invaluable services of HKS members in keeping our surroundings clean and healthy, Suchitwa Mission Executive Director Shri U V Jose and his wife Mrs Peesamma Jose called at the house of the HKS member at Pathirappally, near here.
Shri Jose and his wife spent an hour with Mrs Kumari’s family, and gave some gifts they brought for her children, Bincy and Bijoy.
Shri Jose said HKS members like Mrs Kumari are putting up an exemplary service to the society just as the services of health workers. Their role in the ongoing Malinya Muktham Nava Keralam campaign is especially significant, he noted, adding that they truly deserved to be honoured on occasions like the International Women’s Day.
Holding that she was proud to be part of the HKS, Mrs Kumari said since joining it she has been able to raise here monthly income from a meagre Rs 400 to around Rs 30,000.
According to her, the attitude of people has changed now and they have started treating HKS members with dignity.
Suchitwa Mission IEC Expert Shri Gokul Prasannan and Haritha Keralam Mission Resource Person Smt Jayanthi also accompanied the Executive Director.
