Liberia seeks collaborations from Technopark: African delegation

Trivandrum / February 26, 2024

Thiruvananthapuram, Feb. 26: Highlighting that Technopark is a confluence of people, technology and an eco-friendly climate, a delegation from Liberia has expressed their willingness to collaborate with companies from India’s first IT Park.

During a visit to Technopark here today, the delegation interacted with Col Sanjeev Nair (Retd), CEO, Technopark, and lauded the infrastructure of the Park. On the occasion, Col Sanjeev Nair (Retd) made a detailed presentation on Technopark and Kerala’s IT ecosystem. He added that our state is a very progressive state of India that ensures Clean Kerala, Safe Kerala and Digital Kerala for any business ecosystem to flourish.

Mr Augustus J Flomo, Former Deputy Minister, Ministry of Finance, Liberia, said it’s a wonderful experience to see people, technology, and an ideal climate in one spot.

Mr Flomo said Technopark’s greenest environment, where professionals invent and create contexts and solve some of the world’s biggest challenges, sets a model that should go out to the world.

“India has such a model, and we need it in Africa, especially Liberia. You have created an environment supported by people, and the pioneers behind Technopark have taken the right steps and made the right decision,” observed Mr Flomo, who is also the CEO of Gusceman, INC.

Expressing his excitement at the support and mindset of people towards such a technology hub, Mr Flomo said Kerala IT’s logo itself showcases people at the forefront, and it is a real strength of the country.

According to him, Africa needs strategic partnership with the government-private sector combination to grow in the IT sector.

Noting that creating SEZ is challenging in his country, Mr Flomo said that people will be sceptical and resist any initiative.

“Developing countries need the support of positive and strong mindset of people. Technopark is an example of transforming mindsets at the centre of development,” he said.

Mrs Cecelia CK Flomo, Executive Registrar, Liberian Board for Nursing and Midwifery, was overwhelmed by the cultural and social involvement of women at Technopark.

She said the participation of women in coordinating with men in the workplace will lead to great achievements.

Congratulating Technopark on contributing to the country, Mr Theophilus Wah, Finance Head, Liberian Board for Nursing and Midwifery, said the literacy rate of Kerala has contributed to shaping up the right mindset of people by thinking from all aspects.

Mr Wah said the model of Technopark evolved through government-level support has helped him get a new outlook. He said Liberia can build partnerships with Technopark and take technology to his country.

The West African delegation is in the city to attend ‘Scale to West Africa,’ organised by Kerala Startup Mission (KSUM) on February 27, which aims to showcase the burgeoning opportunities in the West African market.

Shri Vasanth Varada, AGM, Customer Relationships, Technopark; Co-Founders of Neonicz Solutions Shri Arun R S Chandran, Shri Gurumath and other officials of Technopark were also present.
