New Year: Week-long Light Show to open at Kochi’s Marine Drive

Kochi, Dec 29: A visual feast of multicolour lamps is set to deck up the Marine Drive stretch and vicinity for a week from this Saturday, as Tourism Minister Shri P.A. Mohamed Riyas will inaugurate a ‘Light Show’ that will usher in New Year celebrations in the city.

Named ‘Illuminating Joy, Spreading Harmony’, the December 30-January 5 event by the state government will open with a ceremony in the sunset. Industry and Law Minister Shri P. Rajeev will preside over the function. Kochi Mayor Shri M. Anilkumar will be the chief guest. Others on the dais will be legislator Shri T.J. Vinod, District Collector Shri N.S.K. Umesh, Tourism Director Shri P.B. Nooh, GCDA Chairman Shri K. Chandran Pillai and Department of Tourism Joint Director Shri Hussain M., besides Corporation Councillors Smt Padmaja Menon, Shri Manu Jacob and Smt Mini Dileep.

The event, which will be the first of its kind in Ernakulam district, has been conceived with a view to celebrate life as one more year passes by and 2024 arrives. Visitors, with friends and family, can walk along the seaside pathway, taking in the spirit of hope and joy.
