TRCMPU of Milma sets record sales target on Onam days

Trivandrum / August 26, 2023

Thiruvananthapuram, Aug 26: Having made advance plans to meet the entire demand for milk and dairy products during the Onam season in the southern districts, Thiruvananthapuram Regional Cooperative Milk Producers Union (TRCMPU) of Milma has set an all-time high sales target during festival days.

Arrangements have been made to distribute 15 lakh litres of milk on Uthradam day alone, which is higher than 11 lakh litres of milk sold on the Onam-eve last year, TRCMPU Administrative Committee Convener Shri N Bhasurangan said today.

The daily sale of milk in the region, comprising Thiruvananthapuram, Kollam, Alappuzha and Pathanamthitta districts, stands at around 5.75 lakh litres of milk.

Besides procuring milk from around 1000 primary milk cooperative societies, TRCMPU has made arrangements to source additional quantum from the Maharashtra Milk Union to meet the entire demand during the festival season.

TRCMPU is expecting a turnover of Rs 1500 crore during the 2023-24 fiscal, said Shri N. Bhasurangan. In August alone, TRCMPU clinched a turnover of Rs 150 crore, out of which Rs 41 crore is from the sale of value-added products of Milma.

TRCMPU has given an incentive of Rs 2.3 crore to dairy farmers and Rs 55 lakh as festival allowance to the employees of the primary milk cooperative societies.
