Expo on e-Governance opens in state capital

CM to declare ‘Total e-governance Kerala’ on Thursday

Thiruvananthapuram, May 24: A day ahead of declaration of ‘Total e-Governance Kerala’ by Chief Minister Shri Pinarayi Vijayan, the Department of Electronics and Information Technology  opened an exhibition here today featuring digitisation of service delivery by various government departments and the historic transformation  the state is set to undergo through the path-breaking project.

Dr V P Joy IAS, Chief Secretary, Government of Kerala, inaugurated the expo at Kanakakunnu in the city. Dr Rathan U Kelkar IAS, Electronics and IT Secretary, Shri Snehil Kumar Singh IAS, Staff Officer to the Chief Secretary, Kerala State Information Technology Mission Director Ms Anukumari and District Information Officer Shri Bincylal were also present.

The exhibition aims at creating an awareness among people about the changes in the service delivery by offices as Kerala turns a fully e-governance state. It has stalls set up by various departments displaying in audio-visual format the progress they have made in digitizing a wide range of services. More than 15 government departments are participating in the expo.

Entry to the exhibition, which will close on May 27, is free for the public. Visitors can also seek and get information from the officials present at the stalls on how these services could be accessed.

The Chief Minister will make the ‘Total e-governance Kerala’ declaration at Nishagandhi Auditorium here at 4.30 in the afternoon on Thursday.

The Total e-Governance Kerala project marks a major stride in Kerala’s journey towards a knowledge based society and economy besides achieving cent per cent digital literacy.
