Student entrepreneurs, startups to get back patent cost under KSUM scheme

Up to Rs Two lakh for Indian patents, Rs Ten lakh for foreign patents

Thiruvananthapuram, April 29: Kerala Startup Mission (KSUM) has invited applications for the Patent Support scheme launched by the Kerala government to reimburse the cost met by student entrepreneurs and startups for obtaining national and international patents for their innovations.

The scheme, under which up to Rs 2 lakh for national patents and upto Rs10 lakh for international patents will be reimbursed, is aimed at encouraging innovations and recognizing the intellectual properties of student entrepreneurs and startups in the state.

The eligible startups and student innovators can submit online applications via the KSUM portal from May 1.

The scheme ensures that the cost met by the applicant at any stage of seeking the patent will be reimbursed.

The scheme, which aims to promote entrepreneurship and innovation by taking advantage of excellent facilities and supports available in the state, covers all patent applications filed through registered patent attorneys after November 9, 2015.
