Women entrepreneurs’ meet on March 8

Thiruvananthapuram, March 06: In a move to encourage women entrepreneurs from Kerala, the Department of Industries and Commerce is organising a women entrepreneurs’ meet focusing on the current entrepreneurial friendly environment and policies offered by the State here on Wednesday.

The meet which coincides with the International Women’s Day comes within the larger framework of various programmes planned as part of the ‘Year of Entrepreneurs’.

Minister for Health and Women and Child Development Smt. Veena George will inaugurate the event at RDR Convention Center, Edapazhanji, here at 9.30 am.

Presiding over the function, Minister for Law, Industries and Coir Shri P Rajeeve will felicitate the women entrepreneurs who have made immense contributions in their field. He would also announce women-friendly policies as part of the women’s day.

Minister for Animal Husbandry and Dairy Development Smt J Chinchurani will inaugurate the promotional film of PMFME while Minister for Higher Education and Social Justice Smt R Bindu will inaugurate the digital version of ‘VyavasayaKeralam' magazine and portals for ED club registration.Shri V K Prasanth, MLA, and Thiruvananthapuram Mayor Smt Arya Rajendran will also attend the function.

More than 43,000 women have started new ventures in the state as part of the Year of Entrepreneurs initiative. Over 500 women entrepreneurs from different parts of the state will participate in the March 8 entrepreneurs’ meet.

On the sidelines of the event, there will be special sessions wherein the women entrepreneurs will be sharing their journey and experiences apart from discussions and product display. Also, stalls highlighting various services for entrepreneurs will be set up by the Directorate of Industries and Commerce, KSIDC, and K-bip.
