Amid world-wide layoffs, GigsBoard launches app generating IT work opportunities

Kochi, Feb 1: Recognizing the global phenomenon of widespread job layoffs of late, technology company GigsBoard has embarked on an endeavour promoting alternative income-generation and career-building. The Cloud-based talent and projects marketplace that was born at Kerala Startup Mission (KSUM)’s Kochi office made a global launch this week through US website Product Hunt which curates best new products.

As a startup associated with Kerala Startup Mission, GigsBoard undertakes international-level IT projects at economical rates by inducting efficient professionals who have either been laid off from companies or are facing the prospects of ouster. The induction gives the employees the benefit of working in an independent capacity. GigsBoard also inducts upcoming IT Services firms that are looking to improve their business pipelines.

GigsBoard’s strategy helps early-stage startups as well as IT service providers of small and medium scale, according to the company’s founder CEO Sujith K. Bhaskaran. “The latest news of layoffs of 12,000 employees from Google is shocking. But this has been just the latest in a series of layoffs in the tech industry, with numbers hitting around 170,000 in the last 6 months alone,” he points out. “The current global economic slowdown is expected to last till the spring of 2024, and can have significant impacts for India, as the world’s leading IT Services provider”.In this backdrop, GigsBoard’s global launch of a new outsourcing/freelancing web application carries particular significance, the official notes. “You have complete independence, while being able to look forward to work opportunities and career growth,” he adds.

KSUM is Kerala government’s nodal agency for entrepreneurship development and incubation activities in the state.
