Kochi / January 17, 2023

Kochi, Jan 17: The union government is organising an all-India contest that aims to encourage ideas which can catalyse the country’s rural economy, with focus on uplifting marginalised village women.

January 31 will be the last date to apply for the Ministry of Rural Development’s ‘Prajjwala Challenge’. The winners will be announced on March 8. Individuals, students, educational institutions, startups, companies, non-governmental organisations, self-help and community groups, besides farmer producer organisations can apply at https://www.prajjwalachallenge.com/apply-now.

The jury will first be presented with ten ideas chosen from the applications. The best five among them will become eligible for a grant of Rs 2 lakh each. To implement the ideas practically, the winners will be provided with expert advice from institutions including National Rural Livelihood Mission which functions under the ministry to alleviate poverty.

Prajjwala Challenge, for which applications are been coming in since its announcement on December 25, has been conceived to strengthen entrepreneurship in the rural sector in a way that promotes women. The government, society and the private sector will be part of the mission that seeks to broaden the areas of benefits out of the project. The functionaries believe that expenses to the ideas should require investments affordable to the rural population.

Kerala Startup Mission is the nodal agency of the Kerala government for entrepreneurship development and incubation activities in the state.
