Emerging Kerala 2012

A flagship Global Connect programme of the Kerala government held in 2012, it was one of the most talked about events of the year in India. More than 4,500 delegates took part in the meet, including business representatives from 36 countries, heads of states, foreign dignitaries and global corporate leaders.

Coir Kerala -2012, 2013, 2014

Coir Kerala is an annual international trade expo on coir and natural fibres conducted in February by Kerala's Department of Coir to strengthen the state's largest cottage industry. It is held in the coir industry heartland of Alappuzha and attracts hundreds of delegates for around India and abroad.

Amritavarsham 60

Spiritual leader Mata Amritanandamayi's 60th birthday was celebrated in September 2013 with a number of programmes including a world peace prayer, global summit on development, launch of voluntary service projects and seminars on knowledge and spirituality.

Surakshaayanam

Surakshaayanam, an exhibition and international workshop on Disaster Risk Reduction and Contingency Planning was jointly organized by the Department of Revenue & Disaster Management in partnership with Kerala State Disaster Management Authority and the Institute of Land & Disaster Management in March 2012.

Grand Kerala Shopping Festival 2012-13

Grand Kerala Shopping Festival is an annual project of the Department of Tourism, organised in association with the departments of Industries & Commerce, Finance and Local Self Government with an objective of developing Kerala as a shopping destination.

Gender Park Launch of 'She Taxi'

She Taxi, India's first government-backed taxi service operated by women and for women, was launched in November 2013 in Thiruvanathapuram. She Taxi is a project initiated by Gender Park, an institution under the state's Department of Social Justice working for gender equity.

Spice Coast Open

India's first national surfing competition, the Spice Coast Open, was held in Kovalam, Kerala from May 3-5, 2013. Organised by the Surfing Federation of India (SFI), the national governing body for the sport, with the support of Kerala Tourism, the Spice Coast Open featured more than 100 Indian and foreign participants.

World Plumbing Conference

The 10th World Plumbing Conference, the largest global gathering of plumbing experts and professionals, was held in New Delhi in November 2013.

A three-day Global Healthcare Summit (GHS) was organised by the Association of American Physicians of Indian Origin (AAPI) in Kochi in January 2013

Somayagam

The Kasyapa Veda Research Foundation (KVRF) conducted North Malabar's first-ever Somayagam, a Vedic ritual aimed at ushering in global peace and harmony, in Kozhikode in February 2014.

K K Sarachandra Bose's Bharat Yatra on Caste Eradication

NRI social activist K K Sarachandra Bose, an eminent lawyer of international standing, took up a pioneering 50-day Bharat Yatra in June 2014 to spread his message against casteism. Dubai-based Bose has served a mandatory notice on the Government of India to eradicate the caste system by 2014.

Coir Board Diamond Jubilee Celebrations

The Coir Board is a statutory body that functions under the Union Ministry for Micro, Small and Medium Enterprises marked its 60th year in 2013 with a number of programmes culminating in the diamond jubilee celebrations in November.

International Merlin Award for Magic 2011
