Biennale music show: Bollywood classics enthuse hospital audience

Kochi, Nov 25:  Melodious tunes from the Golden Age of Bollywood cinema livened up the spirits of patients at the Government General Hospital here today when noted professional singer Biju Francis staged a scintillating performance for them as part of the 94th edition of the Arts and Medicine programme.

The programme is being organised every Wednesday by the Kochi Biennale Foundation (KBF) in association with Lakeshore Hospital and Research Centre Limited and Mehboob Memorial Orchestra.

The audience that largely comprised patients, bystanders and hospital staff  were in all cheers when Biju along with Alka Askar, a ninth standard student from Delta School, Kochi, opened the concert with Badi doorse sung by Mohammed Rafi in the movie Samjhauta.

Mera Jeevan Kora Kagaz (Kora Kagaz) and the title song of 1976 movie Chalte Chalte both sung by Kishore Kumar as well as songs immortalized by K J Yesudas and S P Balasubramanyam also received a standing applause from the audience.

Biju, who has specialised in old Hindi songs of Rafi and Kishore Kumar, has sung for leading musical troupes in Kerala.
