HLL’s Hindi fortnight celebrations end on a grand note


Thiruvananthapuram  Nov 20:  A fortnight of music and literary challenges in the official language of Hindi ended as the HLL Lifecare Ltd’s (HLL) Hindi fortnight celebrations concluded yesterday.

HLL Lifecare has won the Rajabhasha Hindi Puraskar nine times for its spirited promotion of the language, and the just-concluded celebrations included programmes such as Hindi Mela, Hindi music night, Balasibhiram, Memory Test, Divasam oru vaaku (learn a word per day).

&ldquo As a  central public sector enterprise, we are proud to have  succeeded in promoting and popularising Hindi among our employees,” said HLL Chairman and Managing Director Dr M Ayyapan, at the valedictory celebrations. “The Rajabhasha Hindi Puraskar is an endorsement of our commitment to the language.”

The chief guest at the function Rtd Head of the Department of Hindi, Kerala University, Dr S Thankamanni Amma likened giving value to the language to “loving our country”. Emphasizing the importance of Hindi, Smt Thankamanni said that the language will soon find a place in the United Nation’s language list. She appreciated HLL efforts in nurturing Hindi.

HLL Lifecare’s Kanagala factory in Karnataka and its Peroorkada factory also received the company’s Chal Vaijayanti Raj Bhasha shield for using the Hindi language in the most efficient way, during the celebrations yesterday.

Dr Ayyappan also gave away the prizes to the winners of the competitions held for the employees and children during the fortnight celebrations.

HLL Director (Technical) Dr KRS Krishnan and Company Secretary Senior Vice President (HR) P Sreekumar attended the function.
