Thiruvananthapuram, Nov 2: Kerala State Chalachitra Academy (KSCA) on Monday strongly refuted allegations making the rounds in sections of the media that a certain Melvin William Chirayath is the Chief Functionary for the 20th edition of the International Film Festival of Kerala (IFFK).
KSCA chairman and IFFK 2015 festival director Shri T. Rajeevnath said here that Chirayath has not been assigned any official authority or office-bearing post by the academy.
“He is not even a staff member or an employee of the Academy,” Rajeevnath stated in a press release.
“When different committees were formed for the smooth functioning of the festival, Melvin was included in the sponsorship committee, but this specified committee has not yet convened for a meeting even once. Nor has it taken or executed any officially-sanctioned decision.”
“The Academy doesn’t bear any responsibility for and isn’t party to any controversy relating to this individual and his actions,” he stressed.
