Thiruvananthapuram, Oct 27: The National Institute of Speech & Hearing (NISH) along with the Directorate of Social Justice will conduct the ‘first of its kind’ online Interactive Disability Awareness Seminar (IDAS) on October 30.
The online live seminar hosted by an expert at NISH will commence at their campus at 10 am. This will be simultaneously presented at all the District Social Justice (DSJ) offices for audiences present there via internet.
NISH intends to host a series of online seminars on different topics related to disabilities found commonly among children and adults. While the opening session deals with Stuttering: Methods to Cope and Therapy strategies, future topics will include developmental delays, early detection, early intervention, Autism Spectrum Disorders, multiple disabilities, blindness, hearing impairment, mental retardation, and other different syndromes and disorders commonly found in children.
The two-hour programme in Malayalam aims to reach out across the state to larger numbers of parents and caregivers, who are not aware of the implications of disability.
