Kochi, Oct 18: Around 300 students from over 40 colleges in the state participated in the ‘De Novo’ annual intercollegiate academic competition organized by the students of the Toc-H Institute of Science and Technology (TIST). The fest aims to provide hands-on experience to management students in marketing, finance and human resource development.
The two-day event, which concluded at the institute’s Arakkunnam campus on Saturday, was organized by the MBA students of TIST.
‘De Novo’ featured competitions that require the students to don the role of sales executives and sell products of various companies by pitching it to staff and fellow students inside the campus. The fest also had various contests in HR and Finance categories.
A panel of judges including academicians and industry experts selected ‘the Best Manager’ and ‘the Best Marketing Team’.
“The fest is part of the TIST’s effort s to introduce novel academic programmes that are totally different from conventional study methodologies,” TIST principal Dr Vincent H Wilson said. “Our programmes have been designed to give the students the real-life experience to make them industry-ready.”
Startup Village-incubated company Exploride was presented the ‘Best Startup’ award on the occasion.
Nazneen Jehangir, Executive Director, NeST Group, inaugurated the fest. Toc H Public School Society President C S Varghese, Secretary Prakash George Mathen, Board members Dr P J Joseph and K A Simon also spoke on the occasion.
