‘Pramadavanam’ thrills hospital crowd at biennale music show

Kochi, Oct 21: A Malayalam melody which is celebrating its silver jubilee wafted around as a balm for a crowd largely comprising patients and their attendants, who applauded Sunil Pallipuram when he rendered the hit song today.

The noted singer crooned ‘Pramadavanam Veendum’ originally cut by iconic K J Yesudas from ‘His Highness Abdullah’ (1990), winning joyous cheer from the gathering at Government General Hospital, Ernakulam, which hosted the 88th edition of much-popular ‘Arts and Medicine programme’.

The concert organised every Wednesday by Kochi Biennale Foundation in association with Lakeshore Hospital and Research Centre Limited and Mehboob Memorial Orchestra, spanned more than an hour, lining up a number of Yesudas songs.

Sunil started the concert with a famous devotional song ‘Oru Neramengilum’, before singing late composer M S Baburaj’s ‘Praanasakhi Njan Verumoru’ from 1967 movie ‘Pareeksha’. Also recreated with eminence was the Yesudas-delivered ‘Indravallari Poo Choodi Varum’ from 1972 movie ‘Gandharvakshetram’.

Sunil was accompanied with Lakshmi, who sang ‘Ezhu Sundara Rathrikal’ from 1967 movie ‘Ashwamedham’ (1967), ‘Rajahamsame’ from ‘Chamayam’ (1993) and ‘Priyasakhi Gange’ from ‘Kumarasambhavam’ (1969).

Sunil has sung for one Malayalam movie and for around 50 music albums.
