I.V. Sasi bags J.C. Daniel award for 2014


Thiruvananthapuram, Oct 12: Celebrated filmmaker I.V. Sasi has been awarded the prestigious J.C. Daniel award for 2014 in recognition of his sterling contributions to the Malayalam film industry.

A multiple national and state award winner, Shri Sasi has directed around 150 films in a number of languages over an illustrious career spanning four decades. After starting out as an art director of films, he made his name with a series of memorable films that enjoyed both commercial success and critical acclaim.

The jury for the J.C. Daniel award was chaired by eminent author Shri M.T. Vasudevan Nair and had as members Padmashree award-winning actor Shri Madhu, Shri P.V. Gangadharan, Cultural Department secretary Smt. Rani George,  and Chalachitra Academy chairman Shri T. Rajivnath.

The J.C. Daniel award is a Government of Kerala honour conferred annually in recognition of an individual’s outstanding achievements and contributions to Malayalam cinema.

 The Kerala State Chalachitra Academy hosts the award.
