Biennale: Kochi Noushad sings vintage Hindi, Tamil songs at Kalamassery hospital

Kochi, Sep 28: Brushing aside all their health issues for a while, a gathering comprising largely patients stood listening to balmy music, as noted singer Kochi Noushad dotted his show with popular multilingual vintage songs at a suburban venue today.

The hour-long recital at Cochin Medical College, Kalamassery which had its premises also occupied by a motley crowd of bystanders, featured a dash of hit numbers as part of the weekly ‘Arts and Medicine’ Programme being organised by Kochi Biennale Foundation in association with Lakeshore Hospital and Research Centre Ltd and Mehboob Memorial Orchestra.

The 84th edition of the popular series began with ‘Madhurikum Ormakale’, a hit KPAC drama song made hit by the music of (late) composer G Devarajan. The vocalist later came up with the famed Ilayaraja’s ‘Ilayanila’ from the 1982 movie ‘Payanangal Mudivathillai’.

Noushad, who has been part of many stage shows, has been in the field of music for the past 15 years.

He also recreated the charm of a string of vintage Hindi ditties like ‘Choudavi Ka Chand Ho’ besides a couple of Tamil-movie songs.
