2016 SME B2B meet: Logo to Release on Thursday

Industries and IT minister to unveil logo on Thursday for the 2016 Feb 4-6 event

Thiruvananthapuram, Sep 15: Industries and IT Minister Shri P K Kunhalikutty will unveil in the state capital this Thursday the logo for the Kerala Business-to-Business Meet 2016 to be held in Kochi.

The logo will be released at the Sonata Hall in Mascot Hotel at 12 noon.

The 2016 February 4-6 B2B is being organised by the State Government Department of Industries & Commerce at the CIAL Trade Fair& Exhibition Centre in Nedumbaserry of Ernakulam district.

Coordinated by the Kerala Bureau of Industrial Promotion (K-bip), the three-day meet is exclusively for small & medium enterprises (SMEs). It will focus on seven key sectors in the state: food processing; handlooms, textiles and garments; rubber; wood-based industries; Ayurveda, health and cosmetics; engineering - electrical & electronics and handicrafts.

Industries Principal Secretary Shri P H Kurian said the meet aims to promote SME products in these sectors. “Also, we look forward to building a viable and sustainable network that will enable direct and one-to-one interaction between sellers and buyers,” he added.

The Directorate of Industries & Commerce will identify and select 200 SMEs for the meet. These enterprises will display their products and technologies before buyers, traders, buying and export houses from India and abroad. The registration of SME units for the meet has already started by the respective District Industries Centres of the state.

The Federation of Indian Chambers of Commerce & Industry (FICCI), which is the ‘trade & industry partner’ for the event, has initiated buyer registration. “FICCI is expected to rope in 300 national and 50 international buyers for the meet,” said K-bip CEO Shri V Rajagopal.

The event, with K-BIP as the nodal agency, is being organised in association with the Directorate of Industries & Commerce, the Directorate of Handlooms & Textiles, the Kerala State Industrial Development Corporation and the Kerala Industrial Infrastructure Development Corporation.
