Thiruvananthapuram, July 28: National Institute of Speech and Hearing (NISH) has extended the date for receiving applications from graduates for the one year Diploma in Early Childhood Special Education (Hearing Impairment) DECSE (HI) course to August 14.
A bachelor's degree in any subject is the eligibility criteria for applicants.
Parents and siblings of hard of hearing students will be given preference to the course. The parents need not necessarily be a degree holder but should have passed their 12th/Pre-degree.
The course, affiliated to the Rehabilitation Council of India aims at moulding talented and efficient teachers for training hearing impaired students at their rehabilitation centers. Those who are admitted to the course will be trained at assessing, managing, educating, and rehabilitating hearing impaired students who are six years or below.
