President Pranab Mukherjee to visit Kochi Muziris Biennale, inaugurate seminar

Temporary entry restrictions at Kochi- Muziris Biennale on March 2

Kochi, March 1:President Pranab Mukherjee is set to visit the ongoing third edition of the Kochi-Muziris Biennale (KMB) here to gain a first hand experience of the biggest contemporary art exhibition in the country and will also inaugurate a seminar on ‘Importance of Sustainable Culture Building’ at Cabral Yard on March 2.

In the maiden presidential visit to the Biennale, the President will also tour the Aspinwall House venues of the spectacular art event in Fort Kochi.

In view of security reasons, both Aspinwall House and Cabral Yard will be closed for the day, but other Biennale venues will remain open and there will be free entry on that day.

 

Kerala Governor Chief Justice (Retd) Shri  P Sathasivam and Chief Minister Shri Pinarayi Vijayan will address the gathering while Minister for Tourism Shri Kadakampally Surendran will deliver the welcome address at the function.

 

Kochi Corporation Mayor Smt Soumini Jain, Prof K V Thomas MP, Shri K J Maxi MLA and Kerala Tourism Principal Secretary Dr Venu V will be present. Kochi Biennale Foundation President Bose Krishnamachari will deliver the vote of thanks.

 

Renowned poet Ashok Vajpeyi, Biennale co-founder and artist Riyas Komu and acclaimed Malayalam poet K Satchidanandan are the panelists at the seminar, which will be moderated by Prof. M V Narayanan.

 

Entry restrictions will be lifted from March 3.
